ESP Award Criteria

Level 1.  Educator

In person participation of a minimum of 20 hours over two years:

  1. Attendance at 2017-2018 ESP workshops
  2. Review of 2016-2017 ESP session recordings
  3. Future ESP discussions and workshops
  4. UF Health Science Center College and CTSI sponsored seminars and workshops related to HSC teaching scholarship and/or educational research. See for example, the following websites:

AWARD – Receive the Educational Scholarship Program certificate that reads “Educator” award for 20 hours of participation in the UF HSC – Educational Scholarship Program*

Please note that at least 50% of your attendance must be ESP sponsored..

Note: Credit is allowed for viewing post meeting videorecordings in their entirety and submitting a request for credit.  No credit will be offered for reviewing pdf versions of the slideshows.

Level 2.  Educational Innovator

The Educational Innovator recognition is awarded to faculty, HSC graduate students and post-docs who complete 20 hours of participation AND demonstrate application of what has been learned through any two of the following:

  • Develop a new course
  • Create a new module within a course
  • Teach a course using instructional strategies that are new to you such as flipped classroom, distance education, digital media, or Team-Based Learning among others.
  • Demonstrate ESP participants’ newly learned skills and knowledge by illustrating previous teaching approaches and the new teaching techniques used in a table format.

HOW – Submit a 1.5 to 2 page double-spaced narrative to describe your teaching innovation.

AWARD – Receive the Educational Scholarship Program plaque with the affixed plate that reads “Educational Innovator.”

Level 3. Educational Collaborator

The Educational Collaborator recognition is awarded to faculty, HSC graduate students and post-docs who have worked with someone in their own or another health college on an educational research study or a collaborative teaching initiative.

HOW – Submit a 1.5 to 2 page double-spaced narrative to describe your collaborative educational research study or teaching initiative; identify the collaborator(s), their respective department and college: outline the scope of your work; and describe your own and each collaborator’s role;

AWARD – Add the plate that reads “Educational Collaborator” to the Educational Scholarship Program plaque.

Level 4. Educational Researcher

The Educational Researcher recognition is awarded to faculty, HSC graduate students and post-docs who have” (1) worked with someone in their own or another health college on an educational research study and (2) submitted that educational research study to a peer-reviewed journal for publication.

HOW – Submit a 1.5 to 2 page double-spaced narrative to describe your collaborative educational research study identify the collaborator(s), their respective department and college; outline the scope of your work; describe your own and each collaborator’s role; and identify the title of the journal to which the study was submitted.

AWARD – Add the plate that reads “Educational Researcher” to the Educational Scholarship Program plaque.

Level 5. Educational Leader

The Educational Leadership recognition is awarded to faculty who have: (1) worked with someone in another health college; (2) co-authored an educational research study; (3) has submitted their educational research study to a peer-reviewed journal for publication; and (4) has received extramural grant funding to conduct their study.

HOW – Submit a 1.5 to 2 page double-spaced narrative to describe your collaborative educational research study; identify the collaborator(s), their respective department and college; outline the scope of your work; describe your own and each collaborator’s role; identify the title of the journal to which the study was submitted; and list the source and type of funding, describing how the funding was used to support the study.
